In Barcelona, he played in Manon Lescaut at the Liceu Theater, but soon switched to zarzuela, very popular at the time. From 1924 to about 1940, he appeared in premières and repeated performances and recordings of a great number of new zarzuelas, outstanding among them: La Parranda, Katiuska, La Tabernera del Puerto, La Pícara molinera, El Cantar del arriero and others. He died while still enjoying the admiration and love of his audiences.

The most popular bariton in zarzuela's performances in duets beside other great singers such as Supervia, Nieto, Raga, Baldich and others.
